PrimeFlow Header and Controls
Use the PrimeFlow header to manage canvases, save work, undo and redo changes, search and filter nodes, open templates, arrange nodes, export, and adjust canvas settings.
The PrimeFlow header is the main control surface for a canvas. Use it to manage the current canvas, open saved canvases, search and filter nodes, undo or redo canvas changes, enter full screen mode, open templates, apply theme presets, arrange nodes, export, and open canvas settings.
This article covers the header-level controls. Detailed guides for saving, settings, search, export, templates, and auto layout are linked throughout.
Header controls apply to the current canvas
Save, export, clear, search, filters, and settings apply to the canvas currently open in the active Space.
What you can do
Show or hide the Node Library
while working on a canvas
Enter or leave full screen mode
when your device supports it
Undo and redo canvas structure changes
Hide or show the PrimeFlow header
Open mind map templates
Apply theme presets
Run Auto Layout
Open PrimeFlow help
Search and filter nodes

Export the canvas
Clear the current canvas
Open Canvas Settings
Use the header for canvas-level actions
If the action affects the whole canvas, it usually belongs in the header or its canvas actions menu. If the action affects one node or one connection, use right-click actions instead.
How to open the header controls
- Navigation: Open PrimeFlow from the main navigation.
- Command palette: Press ⌘+K (or Ctrl+K) and search for PrimeFlow.
- PrimeFlow header: Use the named controls shown for the open canvas.
- Keyboard: Use PrimeFlow shortcuts for common actions while you are not typing into another field.
Main controls
Node Library
Use Show Library or Hide Library to control whether the Node Library is available while you work. The Node Library is where you search for node types and drag them onto the canvas.
Shortcut: L
See Adding Nodes in PrimeFlow.
Full screen mode
Use Enter Fullscreen to focus on the current PrimeFlow canvas. Use Exit Fullscreen or press F again to return.
Shortcut: F
See PrimeFlow Full Screen Mode.
Undo and redo
Use Undo and Redo to step through recent canvas structure changes, such as node movement, node creation, node deletion, and connection changes.
Shortcuts:
- Undo: ⌘+Z on macOS, or Ctrl+Z on Windows
- Redo: ⌘+⇧+Z on macOS, or Ctrl+⇧+Z on Windows
- Redo on Windows: Ctrl+Y
Hide or show the header
Use Hide Header when you want more room for the canvas. When the header is hidden, PrimeFlow keeps quick access to showing the header again, toggling the Node Library, and full screen mode.
Shortcut: H
Header visibility is only a workspace preference
Hiding the header does not change the canvas, nodes, connections, filters, or saved data.
Mind map templates
Use Templates to start from a mind map template instead of building a mind map from scratch. Available templates include Blank, Standard Mind Map, Project Planning, Brainstorming, and Problem Solving.
See PrimeFlow Mind Map Templates.
Theme presets
Use Theme presets to change the appearance of supported mind map and canvas elements without changing their content.
Auto Layout
Use Auto Layout to arrange the current canvas automatically. PrimeFlow offers these arrangement choices:
- Hierarchical
- Horizontal
- Radial
- Grid
Help
Use Help to open the PrimeFlow help guide and shortcut reference.
Shortcut: Cmd + Shift + / on macOS, or Ctrl + Shift + / on Windows
Search and filters
The PrimeFlow header includes search and filter controls for the current canvas.
Use search to find nodes by title. Use Quick Filters to filter by node family. Use Advanced Filters to filter by fields such as task status, priority, project status, contact details, company details, note content, and media type.
See PrimeFlow Search and Filters.
Search before rearranging
On a large canvas, search or filter first so you know which nodes matter before using Auto Layout or moving items manually.
Canvas actions menu
Use the canvas actions menu for saving, opening, exporting, clearing, and settings.
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Canvas Library | Opens saved canvases for the active Space |
| New Canvas | Starts a new blank canvas |
| Save | Saves the current canvas name and content |
| Save As | Saves the current canvas under a chosen name |
| Export to PNG | Opens export options for image export |
| Clear Canvas | Removes all nodes and connections from the current canvas after confirmation |

Clear Canvas cannot be undone from the confirmation
Clear Canvas removes the current canvas contents after you confirm. Use it only when you mean to empty that canvas.
For saved canvases, see PrimeFlow Canvas Library and Saving. For export options, see PrimeFlow Export. For settings, see PrimeFlow Settings.

Things worth knowing
Some controls appear only when they can be used
PrimeFlow only offers actions when they make sense for the current canvas. For example, export and clear actions require canvas content.
Export opens more than PNG options
The menu action is named Export to PNG, but the export window also supports WebP and JPEG. It also includes quality, background, title, metadata, watermark, and logo options.
See PrimeFlow Export.
Header controls avoid active editing
Keyboard shortcuts do not run while you are typing into a text field or editor. Finish typing or leave the field before using canvas shortcuts.
Node creation shortcuts are separate
PrimeFlow also has Option or Alt shortcuts for adding specific node types. Those are covered in Adding Nodes in PrimeFlow.
Common questions
"Why do I not see Export or Clear Canvas?"
Those actions are available when the current canvas has content.
"Why does the export menu say PNG if WebP and JPEG are supported?"
That menu action opens the export workflow. The export window lets you choose PNG, WebP, or JPEG.
"Can I use keyboard shortcuts while editing a note?"
No. PrimeFlow avoids running canvas shortcuts while you are typing into an input, note, documentation editor, or similar editing field.
"Does hiding the header affect saved work?"
No. It only changes your working view. Your canvas content is unchanged.
