Stat Cards Widget

Four always-shown cards on the Dashboard - Total Tasks, Completed, Active, and Overdue - with weekly subtitle metrics and click-through filters that open a tasks modal with 16+ filter types.

The stat cards sit between the Dashboard Header and the customisable widget grid. They give you a single-glance summary of your tasks across the whole Space, with each card showing a main number, a subtitle metric for the current week, and click-through filters that open a tasks modal scoped to that exact slice.

These four cards are always shown - they aren't part of the customisable layout. Every Space gets the same four cards.

Stat cards are always visible

Dashboard Layout changes do not hide or reorder the four stat cards.

Click the number for the broad view

Use the main card click for the main task group, then use the subtitle action when you want the weekly slice.

Total Tasks

The total count of every task in your current Space - including project tasks, CRM tasks, personal tasks, and recurring task instances. The subtitle shows how many new tasks were created this week, or "No new this week" when none.

Card click opens the tasks modal filtered to All tasks. Badge click opens it filtered to New this week.

Completed

Tasks whose status maps to the Complete category in your Space's status configuration. The subtitle shows how many tasks were completed this week.

Card click opens the tasks modal filtered to Completed. Badge click opens it filtered to Completed this week.

Active

Tasks in the Active workflow category (typically "In Progress", "Doing", "Active" - the exact statuses depend on your Space's configuration; see Custom Statuses & Priorities). The subtitle shows how many active tasks are due in the next 7 days.

Card click opens the tasks modal filtered to Active (in progress). Badge click opens it filtered to Due soon.

Overdue

Tasks past their due date that aren't yet complete. When the count is zero, the card shows a green "All on track" message. When there are overdue tasks, the subtitle shows how many became overdue this week (or "None new this week").

Card click opens the tasks modal filtered to Overdue. Badge click opens it filtered to Overdue this week when there are new ones - otherwise it falls back to all overdue.

The Dashboard Tasks modal

Clicking any card or badge opens the Dashboard Tasks modal - a focused tasks view scoped to the filter you picked. It supports 16+ filter types you can switch between without leaving the modal.

Available filter types

GroupFilters
BasicAll, Completed, In Progress, Overdue, Upcoming, Due Today, Due Soon
AdvancedToday's Focus, Not Started, Closed, Active Window, Starting Soon, Missing Start Date
Time-basedNew This Week, Completed This Week, Overdue This Week
ScopePersonal, Project, CRM

Each filter has its own title, icon, and empty-state message so you can tell at a glance what you're looking at.

What you can do in the modal

  • Switch filters with one click to pivot from one slice to another
  • Sort tasks by any field (ascending or descending)
  • Edit status and priority inline with dropdowns
  • Set a duration for time tracking
  • Launch Focus Mode on any task
  • Page through large task lists with configurable items-per-page

The modal mirrors the main Tasks page's edit capabilities - see Tasks Overview - but stays focused on the filter slice rather than showing the full task list.

The modal is a focused task view

Use it to inspect and edit the current slice without leaving the Dashboard.

How counts are calculated

PrimeTask reads task data live from your Space and computes each card's number on every render - there's no caching delay. The calculations:

Switch Spaces to compare contexts

Stat cards recalculate for the active Space, so work and personal task counts stay separate.

  • Total Tasks - every task in the Space (including subtasks counted individually)
  • Completed - tasks whose status has the complete workflow category
  • Active - tasks whose status has the active workflow category and aren't completed
  • Overdue - tasks with a due date in the past that aren't completed
  • New this week - tasks created in the last 7 days
  • Completed this week - tasks marked complete in the last 7 days
  • Active due this week - non-completed, non-closed tasks with a due date in the next 7 days
  • Overdue this week - overdue tasks whose due date passed within the last 7 days

The "active" and "complete" categories come from your Space's status configuration - if you've customised your statuses, the cards count correctly based on your custom workflow. See Custom Statuses & Priorities.

Things worth knowing

Always shown - not part of the customisable layout

The four stat cards always appear between the Dashboard Header and the widget grid. You can't hide them or move them in the Layout Editor. The customisable area is the widget grid below them. See Dashboard Layout.

Counts include every task type

The cards count every task type - personal tasks, project tasks, CRM tasks, subtasks, and recurring task instances - across the entire current Space. They don't filter by project or assignee.

Switching Spaces switches the counts

Each Space has its own task pool. Switch Spaces and the cards recalculate to show that Space's tasks. Tasks in your other Spaces don't appear in the current count.

Subtitles are debounced when switching Spaces

When you switch Spaces, the subtitle text waits a moment before updating - this prevents a visual flash as the new Space's tasks load. The main numbers update immediately.

Card clicks open the modal - they don't navigate

Clicking a card opens the Dashboard Tasks modal as an overlay. You stay on the Dashboard. Close the modal to return to your widgets. To go to the full Tasks page, click Tasks in the sidebar instead.

The Overdue card changes colour at zero

When you have zero overdue tasks, the Overdue card's badge shows green with "All on track". When you have any overdue tasks, the badge shows red with the count.

Task progress reflects in the header progress ring

The progress ring in the Dashboard Header (just above the stat cards) shows completed / total × 100. The Total and Completed stat cards drive this number - keep an eye on the ring as you complete tasks. See Dashboard Header.

Common questions

"Why doesn't 'Active' include 'In Review' tasks?"

That depends on your status configuration. Active counts tasks whose status maps to the active workflow category. By default, "In Progress" and "In Review" both map to active - but if you've customised, your mapping wins. See Custom Statuses & Priorities.

"Can I customise which 4 cards appear?"

No - the four cards are fixed (Total / Completed / Active / Overdue). For different views of your tasks, use the Task Status Overview Widget (donut chart of all statuses) or the Upcoming Tasks Widget. See Task Status Overview Widget and Upcoming Tasks Widget.

"What does 'Due soon' mean exactly?"

Due Soon is tasks that aren't completed or closed and have a due date within the next 7 days (today through 7 days from now). The Active card's badge takes you straight to that filter when clicked.

"The Total card includes my completed tasks?"

Yes - Total counts every task in the Space, including completed and closed ones. If you want a count of only "things still on my plate," look at the Active or Overdue cards.

"Why does my Overdue card say 0 even though I have overdue tasks?"

Check that the tasks have a due date set and are in a non-complete status. Tasks without due dates aren't overdue (they don't have a date to be past). Recurring tasks count their current instance, not historical ones.

"Can I filter the modal by project?"

The modal's built-in filters are scope-based (Personal / Project / CRM) but don't drill into specific projects. For project-specific filtering, use the main Tasks page's filter system or open the project's Tasks tab. See Task Filters & Sorting.

"How do I see overdue tasks from last month, not just this week?"

Click the Overdue card body (not the subtitle badge) to see all overdue tasks regardless of when they became overdue. The subtitle badge filters to "this week" only.

"Is the count debounced or cached?"

The numbers update in real time as you complete, create, or edit tasks. Only the subtitle text is debounced (briefly) on Space switch to avoid visual flashing.
