Quick Actions Widget
Six fast-create buttons on the Dashboard - Create Task, New Project, Add Contact, Add Company, Log Activity, View Reports - with the three CRM actions filtered out on the Standard tier.
The Quick Actions widget is a shortcut grid for the most common create operations. Click a button and the right modal opens immediately - no menu navigation, no app pivot. On Pro, all six actions appear; on Standard, the three CRM-related actions are filtered out (since CRM requires Pro), leaving Create Task, New Project, and View Reports.
Quick Actions are shortcuts
They open the same creation flows you can reach elsewhere in PrimeTask.

What you can do
Create a Task
with one click - opens the task creation modal
Create a Project
opens the project creation modal (Quick Create)
Add a Contact
opens the contact creation modal (Pro)
Add a Company
opens the company creation modal (Pro)
Log an Activity
opens the activity creation modal for calls, meetings, emails, notes (Pro)
View Reports
navigates to the Reports page

CRM actions require Pro
Add Contact, Add Company, and Log Activity are part of the Pro tier. Manage your license from License Settings.
Standard tier behavior
On Standard, the three CRM actions (Add Contact, Add Company, Log Activity) are filtered out. The widget shows only the three available actions (Create Task, New Project, View Reports). This keeps the dashboard focused on what you can actually do.

Compact view
In narrow window widths, the widget switches to icon-only mode - buttons collapse to icons in a tighter row, with tooltips on hover. Click behavior is the same as the full button mode.

Use Quick Actions when you know what to create
They are fastest when you already know whether you need a task, project, CRM record, activity, or report.
Things worth knowing
These are the same modals as elsewhere
The Quick Actions widget opens the same modals you'd reach via the sidebar, command palette, or other entry points. Nothing about the Quick Action surface is different - it's purely a shortcut.
Some actions have keyboard shortcuts
The most common create actions also have keyboard shortcuts:
- Cmd+Shift+A / Ctrl+Shift+A - Quick Add (creates a task with natural language parsing)
- Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P - New Project
The widget is faster when you're already on the dashboard; shortcuts are faster from anywhere else.
Keyboard shortcuts work beyond the Dashboard
Use shortcuts when you are working elsewhere and do not want to return to the Dashboard first.
CRM action visibility uses your license check
The widget queries your license tier on render. If you upgrade from Standard to Pro, the CRM actions appear automatically without restarting.
Six actions are fixed - not customisable
The action set is fixed (Create Task / New Project / Add Contact / Add Company / Log Activity / View Reports). You can't add custom actions or reorder them.
Common questions
"Why don't I see Add Contact?"
Add Contact is a Pro feature (CRM). On the Standard tier, the three CRM actions are filtered out. Upgrade to Pro to unlock them - see License Settings.
"Can I customise which actions appear?"
The action set is fixed. To customise the dashboard more broadly, hide the widget entirely (Layout Editor) or use other widgets - see Dashboard Layout.
"What's the keyboard shortcut for Create Task?"
There's no widget-specific shortcut. Use Cmd+Shift+A / Ctrl+Shift+A to open Quick Add (natural language task creation) from anywhere - see Quick Add. To open the full task creation modal, use the Create Task button in the Dashboard Header.
"Why does View Reports navigate instead of open a modal?"

"How do I hide this widget?"
Open the Layout Editor from the Dashboard Header and toggle Quick Actions off. See Dashboard Layout.
