Project Overview Widget

A snapshot of your top active projects on the Dashboard - health, progress, task counts, team avatars, milestone summary, goals summary, and a 14-day completion trend chart per project.

The Project Overview widget gives you a per-project glance card for your top active projects right on the Dashboard. Each card surfaces the most important signals - health state, progress, task counts, team members, the next milestone, goal summaries, and a mini completion trend chart - so you can see how every project is doing without opening it. Click through to jump straight to the project's detail page, or hit a button to create a task in that project.

Project Overview shows a curated set

Use it for the projects PrimeTask surfaces on the Dashboard, then open Projects when you need the full project list.

This widget is part of the customisable Dashboard layout. To show, hide, or move it, see Dashboard Layout.

What's on each project card

Each project shown in the widget has:

  • Hero banner - the project's header image at the top of the card with the project name, description, and CRM pill on the overlay, plus the health badge anchored to the corner. If no header image is set, the card uses the standard layout instead.
  • Project name and click-through to detail page
  • Health badge - On Track / At Risk / Behind / Critical / Completed (auto-calculated)
  • Progress tile with percentage and a View button that opens the project page so you can drill into how the project is tracking
  • Tasks tile showing completed of total, with an Open button that takes you straight to the project's Tasks tab
  • Team tile showing the first few members with a "+N" overflow, plus a Manage button that takes you to the Team tab (avatars come from CRM contact, company logo, or user profile depending on the team source)
  • Mini completion trend chart - last 14 days of completed and due tasks per day, foldable from the section header
  • Goals & OKRs section - when goals exist:

- Clickable section header that takes you to the project's Goals tab - Total count, completed count, at-risk count - Average goal progress in the header - List of individual goals with type, status, priority, and a per-goal progress bar

  • Milestones section - when milestones exist:

- Clickable section header that takes you to the project's Milestones tab - Total count, completed count - Overall completion bar - Next upcoming milestone with its own progress bar and percentage - Upcoming milestones list, each row with its own progress bar and percentage

  • Add Task button - opens the task creation modal pre-linked to that project

Which projects appear

The widget shows your top active projects. Specifically:

  • Archived projects are excluded - only active projects appear. Archive a project and it drops off the widget. See Archive Projects.
  • By default, the top 3 projects appear on the dashboard (the most recently active or most prominent in your workflow)
  • Order reflects the project store's natural order

To see all projects, use the Projects List Page - see Projects List Page.

The Dashboard keeps this widget short so it stays useful during daily review.

How calculations work

The widget reuses the same calculation engines as the Project Details Page:

  • Health - multi-factor calculation from progress, expected progress, overdue tasks, milestone status, and deadline proximity. See Project Health & Progress.
  • Progress - weighted average of tasks, milestones, goals, and CRM tasks (with adaptive normalisation). See Project Health & Progress.
  • Goals summary - counts goals by status (completed, at-risk) and averages goal progress
  • Milestones summary - counts completed milestones, finds the next upcoming one
  • Completion trend - for each of the last 14 days, counts tasks completed and tasks due

All values update live as you complete tasks, hit milestones, or update goals.

Health is a planning signal

Project health is calculated from project activity and timing, not set manually in the widget.

Empty state

When the current Space has no active projects, the widget shows a "No projects yet" message with a button to create your first project. Clicking the button opens the project creation modal - see Creating Projects.

Empty means there is nothing active to show

Create a project or restore an archived one if you expect a project to appear here.

Things worth knowing

Archived projects don't appear

The widget filters to active projects only - archived projects drop off automatically. Restore an archived project and it returns to the widget if it's among your top 3. See Archive Projects.

The widget shows a curated subset, not all projects

The dashboard view is intentionally compact - it shows your top projects, not every project. To see and manage every project, open the Projects List Page.

Health is recalculated live

Each render recalculates health from current data - there's no caching. Complete an overdue task, mark a milestone done, change a goal - health updates immediately on next refresh.

Team avatars use the same resolver as the Team tab

Avatars come from the project's team if set, with intelligent fallbacks (CRM contact avatar, company logo, user avatar). When a project has no explicit team set, the widget falls back to unique task assignees as a stand-in. See Project Team.

The completion trend chart is project-scoped

The 14-day chart counts only tasks belonging to that specific project - completed tasks per day and due tasks per day. It's a quick visual read on whether the project's been delivering or stalling.

Click-through goes to the project's detail page

Clicking any part of the card navigates to the project's detail page, opening on the Overview tab. From there you can drill into Tasks, Goals, Milestones, etc. - see Project Details Page.

Each section has its own quick jump

Every summary tile and section header in the widget is its own click target so you can land in the right place in one click:

  • Progress - View opens the project page on a deeper progress surface, where you can review the numbers behind the percentage
  • Tasks - Open lands you on the project's Tasks tab
  • Team - Manage lands you on the project's Team tab
  • Goals & OKRs header lands you on the project's Goals tab
  • Milestones header lands you on the project's Milestones tab

Pick the tile that matches what you want to do - no more clicking through Overview to get somewhere else.

Per-milestone progress bars at a glance

The Milestones section shows a progress bar and percentage for every milestone in view - both the highlighted Next milestone block and each upcoming row. You can see how each one is tracking without leaving the dashboard.

Goals and milestones summaries only appear when present

If a project has no goals, the goals summary section is hidden. Same for milestones. Cards stay clean when there's nothing to show.

Common questions

"How do I see ALL my projects?"

Click Projects in the sidebar to open the Projects List Page with every project, including archived ones - see Projects List Page.

"Why is my project missing from the widget?"

Check three things:

"Can I customise which projects appear?"

Not from the widget itself. The widget shows the top active projects from your Space's project list. To prioritise specific projects, manage them in the Projects List Page where you have full filter and sort capabilities.

"What does the mini chart show exactly?"

It's a 14-day timeline of two metrics per day: tasks completed (typically rendered as a bar or line) and tasks due (a paired indicator). It gives you a quick pulse of project velocity without needing to open the project's Metrics tab. For full project metrics, see Project Metrics.

"How is the project's health calculated?"

It uses the same multi-factor model as the Project Header - progress vs expected progress, overdue task percentage, milestone status, deadline proximity. The full breakdown is in Project Health & Progress.

"Does the widget show CRM-only projects?"

The widget shows all active projects in your Space regardless of CRM mode - projects with isolated CRM, shared CRM, or no CRM all appear (subject to the top-N cap).

"Can I drag-drop tasks into a project from this widget?"

No - the widget is read-only for tasks. To add a task to a project, click Add Task on the project card, or open the project's Tasks tab and create from there. See Creating Tasks.

"How do I hide this widget?"

Open the Layout Editor from the Dashboard Header and toggle the Project Overview widget off. See Dashboard Layout.
