PrimeFlow Quick Notes Node
Capture quick notes directly on a PrimeFlow canvas and convert any note into a task in one step.
The Quick Notes node is a single node on a PrimeFlow canvas that shows your Quick Notes list and lets you add new notes without leaving the canvas. Quick Notes are shared across PrimeTask - the same list that appears in the Dashboard widget and the App Header input is the list this node shows.
Use the node while planning visually so the ideas you capture sit right next to the canvas they belong to. When a note becomes actionable, convert it into a task on the spot.
For the full Quick Notes workflow across all surfaces, see Quick Notes - the canonical home.
One Quick Notes list per Space
Notes added from the PrimeFlow node appear in the Dashboard widget and the App Header history instantly, and vice versa. They are all views on the same list.
What you can do
Place a Quick Notes node
on any canvas for fast capture while you plan.
Add new notes
from the node with a keystroke.
Browse your recent notes
without leaving the canvas.
Convert a note to a task
in one click - the new task becomes a Task node connected to the Quick Notes node.
Drag a note onto the canvas
to turn it into a Task node at the drop location.
Lock the node
so scrolling through notes does not move the node on the canvas.
Use color themes and appearance overrides
to fit the node to the canvas.
How to add the Quick Notes node
From the Node Library
Step 1
Open PrimeFlow and open or create a canvas.
Step 2
Open Show Library.
Step 3
Drag Quick Notes onto the canvas.
From the canvas right-click menu
Step 1
Right-click the canvas.
Step 2
Choose Quick Notes.
For the full node-adding guide, see Adding Nodes in PrimeFlow.
What the Quick Notes node shows
The node shows:
- The total number of notes in your Quick Notes list.
- The recent notes with their text and timestamp.
- An inline input to add a new note.
- A friendly empty state when there are no notes yet.
Add a quick note
Type a note in the input at the bottom of the node and press Enter to save. The note appears at the top of the list immediately, in the Dashboard Quick Notes widget, and in the App Header history.
For the dashboard and header surfaces, see Quick Notes and App Header.
Convert a note to a task
Every note has a convert-to-task action. When you convert a note:
- PrimeTask creates a new task from the note's text.
- A Task node appears on the canvas, connected to the Quick Notes node.
- The note is removed from the Quick Notes list on every surface.
Use this to move an idea from capture to action without breaking your flow on the canvas.
Capture first, convert later
Drop thoughts into the node as they come up. When you review the canvas, turn the items worth doing into tasks.
Drag a note onto the canvas
Drag a note out of the list and drop it onto the canvas to convert it to a task where you dropped it. The new Task node is connected to the Quick Notes node - useful when you want a task placed near a project, milestone, or area of a map rather than next to the Quick Notes node itself.
Sync across surfaces
The Quick Notes node shares its list with:
- The Dashboard Quick Notes widget.
- The App Header quick note input.
- Agents using PrimeTask's MCP tools.
Adding, converting, or removing a note from any of these surfaces updates all of them. See Quick Notes and bring-your-own-ai.
Lock the node
The Quick Notes node has a lock action that prevents the node from being dragged while you scroll the note list. Unlock it when you want to move the node.
Color theme support
The Quick Notes node follows the canvas color theme and any per-node appearance override, so the node stays readable whatever theme is applied. Appearance is canvas-only and does not change the Quick Notes list.
Things worth knowing
Quick Notes are Space-scoped
Each Space has its own Quick Notes list. Switching Spaces switches which list the node displays.
Removing the node does not delete your notes
Removing the Quick Notes node from the canvas takes the node off the canvas only. Your notes remain in the Dashboard widget, the App Header, and MCP.
The node is a single canvas widget
There is one Quick Notes node that shows all your notes. Notes are not placed as individual nodes on the canvas - individual nodes are created only when you convert a note into a task.
Quick Notes are intentionally light
Quick Notes have no status, due date, priority, or project link. When a note is ready for more structure, convert it to a task.
Common questions
"If I add a note from the Dashboard widget, will it appear on the canvas?"
Yes. The Quick Notes node shows the same list as the Dashboard widget and the App Header. Adding or removing a note on any of those surfaces updates the node immediately.
"What happens to the note when I convert it to a task?"
The note is removed from the Quick Notes list, and a new task is created from its text. A Task node appears on the canvas, connected to the Quick Notes node.
"Can I drag a note onto a specific place on the canvas?"
Yes. Drag a note out of the list and drop it where you want the Task node to appear. The task is created at the drop location.
"Can I delete the Quick Notes node without losing my notes?"
Yes. Removing the node takes it off the canvas only. Your Quick Notes list is untouched and still available from the Dashboard widget, the App Header, and MCP.
"Can I add a note from anywhere, or only from the canvas?"
From anywhere - the App Header quick note input, the Dashboard Quick Notes widget, the PrimeFlow Quick Notes node, and MCP tools all read and write the same list. See Quick Notes.
