PrimeFlow CRM Expansion Nodes
Work with the activities, tasks, contacts, companies, and related companies generated when you expand a Contact or Company node.
When you expand a Contact or Company node in PrimeFlow, PrimeTask places its related records on the canvas as their own nodes. This turns a single CRM node into the anchor of a relationship map - people, organisations, logged interactions, and open work in one view.
This article covers those generated nodes. For the Contact, Company, and Activity nodes themselves, see PrimeFlow CRM Nodes. For the CRM-side view, see CRM and PrimeFlow.
CRM expansion nodes require Pro
All CRM expansion behavior is part of the Pro tier and needs CRM enabled for the active Space. See License Settings.
What you can do
Expand a Contact
to see its activities, tasks, and linked companies on the canvas.
Expand a Company
to see its contacts, activities, tasks, and related companies.
Keep drilling
a generated Contact or Company can expand further.
Pin generated nodes
so they stay on the canvas when the parent is collapsed.
Reuse nodes
already on the canvas instead of duplicating them.
Read relationships at a glance
connection labels show how each node relates to its parent.
Contact expansions
A Contact node offers these expansion actions:
- Activities - each logged activity appears as an Activity node.
- Tasks - each CRM task linked to the contact appears as a Task node.
- Companies - each company linked to the contact appears as a Company node.
For the underlying CRM workflow, see Contact Details.
Company expansions
A Company node offers these expansion actions:
- Contacts - each person linked to the company appears as a Contact node.
- Activities - each activity logged against the company appears as an Activity node.
- Tasks - each CRM task linked to the company appears as a Task node.
- Related Companies - companies linked to this company through a relationship type.
For the underlying CRM workflow, see Company Details.
Related Companies
The Related Companies expansion places each linked organisation on the canvas and labels the connection with the relationship type:
- Competitor
- Partner
- Supplier
- Customer
- Subsidiary
- Parent
- Same industry
- Other
Use it to build organisational maps - a parent company at the centre with its subsidiaries around it, an account with its partners and suppliers, or a competitive landscape.
What each generated node shows
Generated CRM expansion nodes use the standard CRM and Task node types:
- Contact, Company, and Activity nodes - see PrimeFlow CRM Nodes.
- Task nodes - see PrimeFlow Task Nodes.
Everything you can do on a standard node - open, edit, take actions from the toolbar, expand further - also works on a generated node.
Smart reuse
If a contact, company, task, or activity is already on the canvas, PrimeFlow connects the parent to the existing node rather than creating a copy. This keeps the map clean when the same record belongs to more than one parent.
Place your key accounts first
Drop the main company and its key people on the canvas before expanding anything else. Later expansions connect into them automatically.
Further expansion
Generated Contact and Company nodes can expand again. Open a generated Contact and expand its activities, tasks, or linked companies. Open a generated Company and expand its contacts, activities, tasks, or related companies.
This lets you follow a relationship chain as deep as the data goes - from a company to its contacts, to their activities, to the people they work with at other organisations.
Pin behavior
Each generated CRM expansion node can be pinned independently:
- Pin a node to keep it on the canvas when the parent's section is collapsed.
- Unpinned nodes are removed on collapse and rebuilt on the next expansion.
- Positions are remembered, so unpinned nodes return where you placed them.
Pin behavior is the same for activities, tasks, contacts, companies, and related companies.
Connections
PrimeFlow connects the parent to its generated children with labels that describe the relationship:
- Activity - from a Contact or Company to an Activity node.
- Task - from a Contact or Company to a Task node.
- Contact - from a Company to a generated Contact node.
- Company - from a Contact to a generated Company node.
- Related Company - from a Company to a linked organisation, labelled with the relationship type.
For full connection behavior, see PrimeFlow Connections and Edges.
Color theme support
Generated CRM expansion nodes follow the canvas color theme and any per-node appearance override so the map stays readable with any theme applied. Appearance is canvas-only and does not change the CRM record.
Things worth knowing
Expansion follows the active CRM context
The records that appear come from the active CRM context. Shared CRM shows the Space's shared records; Isolated CRM shows project-scoped records. See Shared vs Isolated CRM.
Remove from Canvas does not delete records
Removing a generated expansion node from the canvas removes the visual node. The contact, company, activity, or task remains in PrimeCRM.
Appearance overrides are canvas-only
Changing the appearance of a generated node affects the canvas only. It does not change the CRM record.
Expansions reflect current CRM data
Counts and available records reflect the current state of CRM. Changes made in CRM appear on the canvas when it refreshes.
Common questions
"What shows up when I expand Related Companies?"
Every company linked to the parent through a relationship type appears as its own Company node, with the connection labelled by the relationship (competitor, partner, supplier, customer, subsidiary, parent, same industry, or other).
"If a contact is already on my canvas, will expanding from a company duplicate it?"
No. PrimeFlow connects the Company to the existing Contact node instead of creating a copy. The same applies to companies, tasks, and activities.
"Can a generated Contact expand further?"
Yes. Generated Contact and Company nodes expand the same way as ones you place directly. Open the node and use its expansion actions.
"Do pinned nodes stay on the canvas when I collapse the parent?"
Yes. Pinned nodes remain visible. Unpinned nodes are removed on collapse and rebuilt the next time you expand.
"Does Remove from Canvas delete the CRM record?"
No. Remove takes the node off the canvas only. The record stays in PrimeCRM.
