Week and Day Views
Plan dated work by time in Week and Day views, with timed tasks, all-day tasks, Apple Calendar events, drag scheduling, and quick actions.
Week and Day views are the Calendar's time-based planning views. Use Week View when you want to see several days together, and Day View when you want to focus on one date in detail.
Both views show all-day work separately from timed work. Timed tasks and Apple Calendar events appear at their scheduled times, so you can see what is competing for your attention before you commit to a plan.
Use Week for balance and Day for detail
Week View is better when you are moving work between days. Day View is better when one date needs fine-tuning.

Choosing between Week and Day
| View | Best for |
|---|---|
| Week | Reviewing several days together, moving work between days, and checking how the week is balanced |
| Day | Planning one date in detail, adjusting timed tasks, and focusing on today's schedule |
Week View follows your week start setting. Open Settings → Date & Time to choose whether weeks start on Sunday or Monday. See Date & Time Settings.
Week start comes from Date & Time settings
Change the week start setting when Week View does not match the way you plan.
Working with timed tasks
Timed tasks have a start and end time. In Week and Day views, they appear at the time they are scheduled.
Drag a timed task to move it. In Week View, you can move it to another time or another day. In Day View, you can move it to another time on the same day.
Adjust the start or end of a timed task to change its duration. PrimeTask updates the task's start date, due date, and duration so the task stays aligned with the schedule you set.
Moving timed work updates the task
Dragging or adjusting a timed task changes its schedule, not just the Calendar view.
Working with all-day tasks
All-day tasks sit outside the hourly schedule. Use them for work that belongs on a date but does not need a specific time.
In Week View, all-day tasks can span more than one day. You can move them to other dates or adjust the date range. You can also drag all-day work into the timed schedule to give it a start time.
In Day View, dragging all-day work into the timed schedule gives it a default timed block on that date. Dragging a timed task back to all-day removes the time from the task and keeps it on the date.
Move between all-day and timed planning
Use all-day when only the date matters, and timed planning when the start time matters.
Creating tasks from a time
Choose an hour slot to create a task at that time. PrimeTask opens the task creation form with the date and time already filled in.
Use Week View when you want to create a task on a specific day of the week. Use Day View when you already know the date and want to pick the right time.
For more about task creation, see Creating Tasks.
Working with Apple Calendar events
On macOS, Apple Calendar events can appear in Week and Day views when the integration is enabled and available for the active Space.
Timed events appear in the timed schedule. All-day and multi-day events appear with all-day work. If an event overlaps with tasks or other events, PrimeTask keeps each item readable so you can see the conflict.
Right-click an Apple Calendar event to convert it into a PrimeTask task. PrimeTask keeps the event's timing when it creates the task, and you can choose whether to keep the original Apple Calendar event. See Apple Calendar Integration.
To configure Apple Calendar, open Settings → Integrations. See Integrations Settings.
Apple Calendar events stay separate
Convert an event only when you want to manage it as a PrimeTask task.
Filtering Week and Day views
The Calendar filters apply to both Week and Day views. Use them to narrow the schedule by:
- Status
- Priority
- Tags
- Content type - YouTube videos, images, X posts, or links
- Completed tasks - hide completed tasks from the Calendar
- Archived project tasks - hide tasks that belong to archived projects
- Recurring tasks - show only recurring tasks, hide recurring tasks, or show all tasks
- Apple Calendar events - show or hide events from Apple Calendar
Filters are saved for the active Space. Switching Spaces can restore a different Calendar view and filter set. See Calendar Filters.
Navigation and zoom
Use Today to return to the current date. Use previous and next to move between weeks in Week View or between days in Day View. You can also press Cmd + ← (or Ctrl + ←) and Cmd + → (or Ctrl + →).
Use + and - to zoom the hourly schedule in or out. This changes how much vertical room each hour gets, which can make dense schedules easier to review.
When the current date is visible, Week and Day views show a current-time marker and scroll toward the current time when the view opens.
Things worth knowing
Week View is better for moving work between days
Use Week View when you are balancing a week, moving tasks between days, or checking whether one day is overloaded.
Day View is better for detailed daily planning
Use Day View when you want one date without the distraction of the rest of the week. It is useful for fine-tuning times, reviewing today's Apple Calendar events, and deciding what needs focus.
Timed and all-day work can move between sections
Dragging all-day work into the timed schedule gives it a time. Moving timed work back to all-day removes the time while keeping it on the date.
Recurring tasks can be rescheduled
When a recurring task is moved, PrimeTask treats the change as a current-occurrence change first and gives you a way to apply it to future occurrences when needed. See Recurring Tasks.
Focus Mode follows the Today and Overdue rule
You can start Focus Mode from Week or Day View only for tasks scheduled for today or overdue. Future tasks need to be rescheduled before they can be started from the Calendar. See Focus Mode from Calendar.
