Integration Troubleshooting

Fix common connection, sync, import, deep link, and AI-agent issues by checking permissions, Spaces, settings, and logs in the right order.

Most integration problems come down to one of four things: the feature is not enabled, the operating system has not granted permission, the wrong Space is active, or the connected tool is using an old setup.

Use this article as a first stop when an integration does not behave as expected. For the full setup steps for each integration, use the dedicated article linked from the relevant section.

Start with the active Space

Many PrimeTask integrations are Space-aware. Before changing settings, switch to the Space where you expected the task, event, reminder, import, or agent action to appear.

What you can do

Check Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders sync

when events, reminders, or synced tasks are missing

Confirm deep link setup

when external launchers do not open PrimeTask

Review AI-agent access

when MCP tools do not appear or cannot write changes

Diagnose import problems

when a CSV or Todoist import does not map as expected

Use logs and settings safely

before changing permissions or reconnecting tools

How to troubleshoot integrations

  • Integrations overview: Open Documentation → Integrations → Integrations Overview to find the article for the feature you are using.
  • Apple integrations: Open Settings → Integrations to review Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders options.
  • External tools and AI agents: Open Settings → External Integrations to review deep links, MCP, permissions, profiles, and the audit log.
  • Importing data: Open Integrations → Importing Data when a file import needs checking.
  • Command palette: Press +K or Ctrl+K, then search for Settings, Integrations, or External Integrations.

Things worth knowing

Apple integrations are macOS-only

Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders rely on macOS system features. If you are using PrimeTask on Windows, use the other integration surfaces: importing data, external deep links, and AI-agent connections.

Permissions can block sync

If Calendar or Reminders data does not appear, open Settings → Integrations and confirm the integration is enabled. Then check the macOS permission prompt or system privacy settings if PrimeTask asks for access again.

Permission prompts are controlled by macOS

PrimeTask can ask for permission, but macOS decides whether access is granted. If the prompt was dismissed earlier, review the permission from macOS system settings.

Sync belongs to the active Space

Calendar and Reminders sync are configured per Space. If a synced task or reminder appears to be missing, switch Spaces and check the Space where the integration was originally enabled.

Deep links need external integrations enabled

If Alfred, Raycast, Apple Shortcuts, a shell command, or another launcher does not open PrimeTask, open Settings → External Integrations and confirm deep links are enabled. Use the command explorer there to copy a fresh command and test again.

AI agents need both connection and permission

For MCP-compatible tools, turning on the server is only part of setup. The agent also needs a valid connection, the right profile, and permission to access the Space and action type you want it to use.

Start with read-only access when you are unsure. Move to write access only after you have confirmed the agent can see the correct Space and return the expected information.

Give agents only the access they need

If an agent only needs to summarize tasks, use a read-focused setup. Enable write access only for workflows where you intentionally want the agent to create or change records.

Imports need clean source data

If a CSV import does not map correctly, go back to the preview and mapping steps in the import wizard. Confirm that the columns you want to import are present, readable, and mapped to the right PrimeTask fields.

For Todoist imports, check the import summary before confirming. It is easier to correct the import setup before records are created.

The audit log helps explain external actions

When a deep link or MCP agent changes something, review Settings → External Integrations → Audit Log. It shows whether the command succeeded or failed and helps you understand which external tool triggered the action.

Common questions

"Apple Calendar is enabled, but I don't see events in PrimeTask."

Check that you are in the Space where Calendar sync is enabled, then open Settings → Integrations and confirm the calendars you want are selected. If the integration still has no access, review macOS permissions.

"Apple Reminders created duplicate tasks."

Check whether one-way or bidirectional sync is enabled. Then review the Reminders list connected to the current Space. If you recently changed lists or imported older reminders, confirm which list PrimeTask is reading from.

"My shortcut or launcher opens nothing."

Open Settings → External Integrations, confirm deep links are enabled, and copy a fresh command from the command explorer. If the command still does nothing, restart PrimeTask and try again.

"My AI tool connects, but tools are missing."

Open Settings → External Integrations and review the selected MCP profile. Some tool families depend on the selected profile and on your license. For the full setup guide, see Bring Your Own AI.

"The agent says it cannot write changes."

Check whether write access is enabled for that agent profile. Also confirm the agent is working in the correct Space. If the feature requires Pro, review License Settings.

"My import preview does not recognize a column."

Use the mapping step in the import wizard to connect that source column to the closest PrimeTask field. If there is no matching field, import the core task data first, then add unsupported detail manually after import.
